I want to increase the breadth of my positive impact and do the most good in the world.
Having dealt with traumatic loss as a young adult taught me that the only constant is change. These experiences prepared me to be a changemaker and forward thinker.
With a tendency to thrive in environments that evolve quickly and unexpectedly, I am easily adaptable to new contexts and settings.
To practice pronouncing my nickname, please sing along with the chorus:
"Here we go, Ale! Ale! Ale!"
I am a polyglot who has lived abroad (France + Spain), backpacked South America (Brazil + Argentina) and traveled to 20+ countries (Western Europe, mostly). I love practicing foreign languages and learning false friends. Besides meeting locals, my favorite activity in a foreign country is to check out the grocery stores.
I am a pianist and have taught music theory and piano fundamentals to beginners. I've dabbled in composing experimental music and once worked in a sculpture studio. My interests are interdisciplinary; studying experimental music and modern art led me to author academic research about a contemporary art genre: sound sculpture.
I always seem to find myself in nature. Whether that's kayaking in search of mangroves or bodysurfing into crashing waves at the beach-- being outside always boosts my mood. Lately, I've been gardening in our backyard and cultivating succulents.
